Find classic Skeeball Machines in San FranciscoWhen I moved to San Francisco over four years ago, I had no idea where to play Skeeball in this fair city of San Francisco. So I went to my trusted resource of reviews and listings…Yelp. This is what I found, another man sharing my same concern:

“Where can a guy get a classic game of Skeeball in this town?!”  – Yelp User 10372

Fast forward 4 years. Now there are multiple options of playing Classic Skeeball in San Francisco. Let me take you on a journey of playing this nostalgic game in the city by the bay. Before we start, let me define what Classic Skeeball is.

Classic Skeeball has the following characteristics:

Mesh Nets
Wooden Balls
Vintage Marquee
8-Bit Sound Effects
Scoring Pockets That Don’t Exceed 100 Points

Classic Skeeball is NOT:

Plastic Balls

    Description: This is one of the more unique Skeeball experiences in the city. There are two Skeeball machines on a canvas-covered trailer that ready for gameplay adjacent to all of the food trucks. It’s the first of its kind, a mobile Skeeball gaming experience.

    Description: Stop by this  fashionable clothing store and art gallery for some Skeeball and you could win a poster, t-shirt and more. This venue is host to plethora of art shows and the popular American Tripps Berlin-Style Ping Pong. The staff is friendly and you’re sure to find something handmade and/or unique to San Francisco because they have a silkscreen setup in-house.

  3. Buckshot Bar and Tavern

    Prizes: No, they do have a competitive league though, Brewskee-Ball.
    Description: One of the more popular Skeeball locations in San Francisco, the Buckshot is host to two Classic Skeeball machines and the infamous Ike Turner shot (a shot of Hennessy and a slap to the face). Come here on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesday evenings to witness the competitive Brewskee-Ball league taking place. That’s where you’ll find the best Skeeball players in the country.

  4. Rickshaw Stop

    Neighborhood: Hayes Valley

    Description: Tucked away in the upstairs hangout of this music venue and night club, the Rickshaw Stop, a classic Skeeball machine is perfectly placed for concert and party goers to blow off some steam before rocking out.  On any given Thursday night, you can see some amazing bands here for the famous party night, Popscene.

  5. MUSEE MECANIQUE

    Neighborhood: Fisherman’s Wharf

    Price / Game: $0.25
    Prizes: No.
    Description: From the collection of WWII veteran, Edward Galland Zelinsky, Musee Mechanique is host to wide variety of coin-operated amusements. You can find a classic Skeeball machine here and it’s the least expensive in the city. If you find yourself in Fisherman’s Wharf, definitely stop by and play this machine!
